Habitat: Local in moist to rather dry, gravelly soil in small gravel pit along south side of road. In full sun to partial shade of Alnus incana. Associated species include Carex cryptolepis, Juncus sp., Scirpus cyperinus, Euthamia graminifolia, Solidago uliginosa, S. canadensis, Aster umbellatus, Equisetum varigaetum, Drosera rotundifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Trifolium pratense, Lotus corniculatus, Rudbeckia hirta, Achillea millefolium, Danthonia spicata, and seedlings of Larix laricina, Thuja occidentalis, Picea mariana, P. glauca, and Alnus incana.
