Habitat: growing from saturated bryophyte mat, in small, open fen within large old growth Thuja swamp. Fen dominated by Carex spp., pH 6.7. Associates include: Carex limosa, C. lasiocarpa, Drosera rotundifolia, C. chordorrhiza, Scirpus hudsoniana, Sarracenia purpurea, menyanthes trifoliata, Platanthera dilatata.
