Habitat:
Strongly-rolling forested moraine; along the undeveloped south shore. In narrow strip of level ground between the lake and steep north-facing forested slope of 100-foot hill. Shaded here by Tilia americana, Betula papyrifera, Ulmus americana, and Ostrya virginiana. Moist sandy-loam near the water's edge; often in areas with recent beaver clearing of woody understory. Associated species include Thelypteris palustris, Onoclea sensibilis, Equisetum arvense, Cirsium arvense, Sagittaria latifolia, Lycopus uniflorus, Verbena hastata, Cicuta bulbifera, Iris versicolor, Phalaris arundinacea, Carex hysteracina [sic], Glyceria striata, Parthenocissus inserta.
