Habitat: Heterogeneous sedge-shrub-tamarack peatland complex. Tamarack swamp dominated by fairly dense, mature Larix laricina. Patchy understory of Alnus incana and scattered Ilex verticillata. Nearly continuous Sphagnum sp. moss carpets. On drier hummocks of the saturated peat substrate. Associates include: Picea glauca, Acer rubrum, Betula papyrifera, Ledum groenlandicum, Vaccinium angustifolium, Rubus pubescens, Osmunda cinnamomea, Thelypteris palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Carex trisperma.
Description: Uncommon and local in narrow band (~3 acres). Several small trees (to 12 feet tall). Orange fruits, present on only one tree.
