Habitat: Rolling terrain. Tamarack swamp in inter-drumlin wetland. Patchy to fairly dense canopy of Larix laricina. Patchy understory of Acer rubrum, Betula papyrifera, and Ulmus americana. On raised microsites, typically around the bases of larger trees. Moist moss-covered peat. Full shade to partial sun. Associates include: Carex leptalea, C. disperma, C. gynocrates, Rubus pubescens, Mitella nuda, Pyrola asarifolia, Cornus canadensis, Lycopus uniflorus, Scutellaria lateriflora, Aster borealis, Ledum groenlandicum, Parthenocissus inserta, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
Description: Occasional to frequent. Petals pink in bud, white when open.
