Habitat: Rolling till plain. In small (~1-acre) dry prairie remnants on mid to upper portion of fairly steep, 35-foot, south- to east-facing slopes. Gravelly loam. Full sun. Associates include: Stipa spartea, Bromus inermis, Solidago rigida, S. canadensis, Glycyrrhiza lepidota, Psoralea esculenta, Echinacea angustifolia, Achillea millefolium, Amorpha canescens, Symphoricarpos occidentalis.
Description: Locally common. Low shrubs, to 18 inches tall. Pink petals.
