Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested moraine. In rich shrub fen in small (~3-acre) basin. Full sun to partial shade of Betula glandulifera, Alnus incana and small Betula papyrifera. Saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum spp. moss carpets. Additional associates include Chamaedaphne calyculata, Andromeda glaucophylla, Salix pyrifolia, S. pedicellaris, Spiraea alba, Acer rubrum, Eriophorum angustifolium, Carex canescens, C. utriculata, C. chordorrhiza, C. lacustris, C. stricta, Thelypteris palustris, Dryopteris cristata.
Description: Local, occasional. Scattered shrubs, more common in outer zones of fen.
