Habitat: Rather strongly-rolling forested moraine; in rich shrub fen in eastern end of ~50-acre wetland basin. Full sun to partial shade of Betula glandulifera and scattered immature Larix laricina. Deep, slightly quaky saturated peat. Patchy cover of Sphagnum spp. mosses. Additional associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. interior, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Thelypteris palustris, Potentilla palustris, Triadenum fraseri, Solidago uliginosa, S. altissima, Equisetum fluviatile, Lycopus uniflorus, Spiraea alba, Alnus incana, Salix pedicellaris, S. petiolaris.
Description: Occasional. Single-stemmed rhizomatous shrubs, to four feet tall.
