Habitat: Rather strongly-rolling sandy moraine. Moderately steep, 50-foot, south-facing slope. Small (~2-acre) savanna-like opening along two-track road through dry oak woodland. Full sun to partial shade of Quercus ellipsoidalis and Pinus banksiana. Sandy soil. Additional associates include Sorghastrum nutans, Liatris aspera, Solidago rigida, Petalostemum purpureum, P. candidum, Artemisia ludoviciana, A. campestris, Helianthemum bicknellii, Conyza canadensis, Rubus allegheniensis.
