Habitat: In rich forested wetland with mix of Larix laricina and Picea mariana and understory of dense shrubs. May have been some historic partial harvest in portions of this wetland complex. Growing in wet organics in partial shade. Associates: Fraxinus nigra, Alnus incana, Rubus pubescens, Maianthemum canadense, Doellingeria umbellata, Cornus canadensis, Glyceria cf. striata, Iris versicolor, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Equisetum fluviatile.
