Habitat: Poor fen along sunny margin of pond within poor conifer swamp; growing from deep Sphagnum substrate within 1m of water's edge. Associates: Carex lasiocarpa, Myrica gale, Alnus incana, Sarracenia purpurea, Kalmia polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Potentilla palustris, Typha latifolia.
