Habitat: In a moist, brushy, opening in an otherwise dry sandy oak savanna; in partial shade. Associated with Solidago gigantea, Onoclea sensibilis, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Andropogon gerardii.
Description: Flowers 3.2-4.0 cm across; petals elliptic to wide elliptic. Primocane 0.9 m long, nearly erect. Floricane 2.6 m, mounding and trailing. Tip-rooting confirmed.
