Habitat: In partial shade at the edge of a mesic deciduous forest. Associated with Populus tremuloides, Picea glauca, Fraxinus nigra.
Description: A small tree with 4 stems from tight root crown (non-rhizomatous). The largest stem 4 m tall, 3 cm dbh. Bark gray, smooth. Scattered hairs on ovary (hybrid influence?).
