Habitat: In a brushy/grassy upland clearing. In mesic sandy loam, and partial shade. Associated with Amelanchier interior, Prunus americana, P. virginiana, Crataegus chrysocarpa.
Description: A smallish shrub with a single stem 1 m tall and 1 cm basal dia. Bark gray, smooth. Ovaries glabrous. Leaves with a slight tinge of bronze color.
