Habitat: Occasional in wet sand and shallow muck. On fairly broad and gradually sloping beach up to ~16 inches above present lake level (which is down considerably due to extended drought). Full sun. Associates include Schoenoplectus purshianus, Carex cryptolepis, C. bebbii, C. vulpinoidea, Eleocharis acicularis, E. ovata, Fimbristylis autumnalis, Dulichium arundinaceum, Agrostis scabra, Hypericum majus, H. boreale, Juncus pelocarpus, Bidens connata, Persicaria lapathifolia, P. punctata, Agalinus paupercula, Lycopus
