Habitat: Abundant in sand and shallow muck. Stranded on fairly broad and gradually sloping lower beach zone, up to ~6 inches above present lake level (which is down considerably due to an extended drought). Full sun. Forming quite dense carpets. Associated species include Eleocharis ovata, Fimbristylis autumnalis, Juncus pelocarpus, J. brevicaudatus, Schoenoplectus purshianus, Hypericum majus, H. boreale, Lycopus americanus, Bidens connata, B. cernua, Agalinus paupercula, Persicaria lapathifolia, P. punctata, Utricu
