Habitat: Frequent in wet sand and shallow to quite deep wet muck. Stranded on fairly broad and gradually sloping lower beach zone, up to ~4 inches above present lake level (which is down considerably due to an extended drought). Full sun. Associated species include Eleocharis acicularis, E. ovata, Fimbristylis autumnalis, Juncus pelocarpus, Persicaria lapathifolia, P. punctata, Lycopus americanus, Bidens connata, B. cernua, Utricularia gibba, Nymphaea tuberosa, Hypericum majus, H. boreale.
