Habitat: In rolling forested terrain. Frequent here in open sand on rather broad, gently-sloping beach ~1-2 feet above the present water level (which is down ~3 feet due to extended drought). Full sun. Associated species include Eleocharis quinqueflora, Carex viridula, Agrostis scabra, Juncus brevicaudatus, J. pelocarpus, Lobelia kalmii, L. siphilitica, Agalinus paupercula, Fragaria virginiana, Conyza canadensis, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Bidens connata.
