Habitat:
Rare on large sand-gravel bar. Moist coarse sand and pea-sized gravel substrate ~4-6 inches above present river level. Full sun. Associates include Cyperus squarrosus, C. diandrus, C. odoratus, Scirpus atrovirens, Eleocharis intermedia, Panicum philadelphicum, Zizania palustris, Eragrostis hypnoides, Echinochloa muricata, Lindernia dubia, Rumex fueginus, Mollugo verticellata, Stellaria media, Verbena hastata, Persicaria lapathifolia, Bidens cernua, Stachys palustris, Veronica catenata, and seedlings of Acer
