Habitat: Frequent in poor sedge fen which forms broad zone bordering the lake; apparently restricted to somewhat richer area closer to the upland. Saturated spongy peat. Full sun. Creeping over and through continuous carpets of Sphagnum spp. mosses. Associated species include Chamaedaphne calyculata, Salix pyrifolia, Betula glandulifera, Larix laricina (stunted), Carex utriculata, C. canescens, C. lacustris.
