Habitat: Gently-rolling drumlin plain. Common in conifer swamp in fairly extensive inter-drumlin peatland complex. Fairly dense canopy dominated by Larix laricina with scattered Picea mariana. Occasional Alnus incana in tall understory. Moist peat, covered by carpets of Sphagnum spp. and Bryales spp. mosses. Forming loose carpets on hummocks. Associates include Rubus pubescens, Trientalis borealis, Saxifraga pennsylvanica, Coptis groenlandica, Corallorhiza trifida, Cypripedium acaule, Maianthemum canadense, Rhamnus
