Habitat: Gently-rolling drumlin plain. Frequent in conifer swamp in fairly extensive inter-drumlin peatland complex. Fairly dense canopy dominated by Larix laricina with scattered Picea mariana. Occasional Alnus incana in tall understory. Saturated peat, covered by carpets of Sphagnum spp. and Bryales spp. mosses. Few-branched, somewhat sprawling shrubs to ~30 inches tall. Associates include Lonicera villosa, Cornus stolonifera, Ledum groenlandicum, Ribes hirtellum, Betula glandulifera, Carex gynocrates, Rubus pubes
