Habitat:
Local, uncommon in degraded sand prairie remnant in ravine. Moderately steep, 25-foot, west-facing slope. Full sun. Small, dense patches in open sand of ancient Mississippi River outwash terrace. Associated species include Poa pratensis, Andropogon gerardii, Stipa spartea, Koeleria macrantha, Carex duriuscula, Verbascum thapsus, Ambrosia coronopifolia, Penstemon grandiflorus, Artemisia frigida, Amorpha canescens, Physalis heterophylla.
