Habitat: Level outwash plain. Occasional very locally in small (~1-acre) opening in tamarack swamp. Full sun to partial shade beneath scattered Larix laricina (most trees dead locally), and also Alnus incana and Betula glandulifera in fairly dense shrub layer here. Quaky saturated peat. This opening is somewhat wetter than the surrounding tamarack swamp. Additional associates include Carex prairea, C. paupercula, C. interior, C. chordorrhiza, Glyceria grandis, Thelypteris palustris, Calla palustris, Cicuta bulbifer
