Habitat: Rolling forested moraine. Local. Small cespitose clumps on exposed muck and peat mats floating in shallow water (~3 feet deep). In full sun. Associated species include Schoenoplectus purshianus, Juncus brevicaudatus, Glyceria borealis, Dulichium arundinaceum, Carex crawfordii, Utricularia vulgaris, U. minor, Nymphaea odorata, Brasenia schreberi, Bidens tripartita, Typha x glauca.
