Habitat: In strongly rolling forested moraine. Uncommon. On sand and cobble beach along wave-washed shoreline. Full sun. Associates include Cyperus strigosus, C. bipartitus, Eleocharis acicularis, E. palustris, Carex viridula, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Agrostis scabra, Juncus pelocarpus, Agalinus paupercula, Bidens cernua, B. tripartita, Ranunculus flammula, Lobelia kalmii, Conyza canadensis, Erechtites hieraciifolius.
