Habitat: Rolling forested terrain. Uncommon in fairly large poor fen. Small loose patches, apparently restricted to a broad zone of low-statured vegetation dominated by Scheuchzeria palustris and Chamaedaphne calyculata. In carpets of Sphagnum spp. mosses. Deep, quaky, saturated peat. In full sun. Additional associates include Carex oligosperma, C. limosa, Eriophorum virginicum, Sarracenia purpurea, Drosera rotundifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Kalmia polifolia, Andromeda glaucophylla, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
