Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested terrain. Local, occasional in rich sedge-shrub fen surrounding a small (~8-acre) bog pond. Scattered plants along outer portion (near upland margin) of the fairly broad fen. Quaky saturated peat. Full sun. Multi-stemmed shrubs, to four feet tall. Associated species include Alnus incana, Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex lacustris, Calla palustris, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Cicuta bulbifera, Campanula aparinoides, Potentilla palustris.
