Habitat: Uncommon and very local on quite steep northwest-facing slope of a 15-foot high sandy terrace which rises above a backwater channel northwest of Simon Lake. Several loose clumps in canopy gap on lower slope. Partially shaded by Quercus macrocarpa and Ostrya virginiana. Many plants rooted in moss mats. Associated species include Poa pratensis, Carex pensylvanica, Achillea millefolium, Equisetum arvense, Amphicarpaea bracteata, Hedyotis longifolia, Zizia aptera, Galium boreale, Phlox pilosa.
