Habitat: Rolling forested moraine. Locally abundant. Forming the dominant cover (fairly dense patch) in 5- to 15-foot wide zone along the edge of the water. Wet muck and shallow water. In full sun. Associated species include Sagittaria latifolia, Utricularia vulgaris, Nymphaea odorata, Eleocharis palustris, E. ovata, Dulichium arundinaceum, Carex atherodes, C. utriculata, Scirpus cyperinus, Glyceria grandis, G. canadensis, Leersia oryzoides.
