Habitat: On gently-rolling drumlin plain. Frequent in alluvial forest. Interrupted to fairly continuous canopy of Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Quercus macrocarpa, and Acer saccharinum. Open understory. Silty soil; typically in zones dominated by Laportea canadensis on slightly higher elevations (1-2 feet) of the undulating floodplain. Additional associates include Circaea lutetiana, Galium obtusum, Rudbeckia laciniata, Geum canadense, Elymus curvatus, Glyceria striata, Carex assiniboinensis, C. radiata, C. cristatella.
