Habitat: Occasional to frequent in shallow to quite deep saturated muck over sand. Emergent in shallow water, and stranded on fairly broad and gradually sloping lower beach zone, up to ~4 inches above present lake level (which is down considerably due to extended drought). In full sun. Associated species include Schoenoplectus purshianus, Eleocharis acicularis, E. ovata, Fimbristylis autumnalis, Juncus pelocarpus, Nymphaea tuberosa.
