Habitat: Local on steep, 25-foot, south-facing riverbank slope. Mesic hardwood forest dominated by Tilia americana, with frequent Quercus macrocarpa. Understory of Ostrya virginiana. Sandy soil with rich organic upper layer. ~Two dozen cespitose plants here, somewhat associated with edges of a lightly-used foot path. Associates include Carex peckii, C. pedunculata, C. pensylvanica, C. radiata, C. blanda, Oryzopsis racemosa, Festuca subverticillata, Uvularia grandiflora, Aquilegia canadensis, Solidago flexicaulis, Sm
