Gently-rolling drumlin plain. Local in conifer swamp in fairly extensive inter-drumlin peatland complex. Uncommon in narrow zone of black ash swamp on outer margin of peatland surrounding a large tamarack swamp. Canopy of fairly dense, but multi-aged Fraxinus nigra. Understory of F. nigra and Alnus incana. On raised hummocks in saturated peat over sand. Trees to 40 feet tall and 10 inches d.b.h.
