Habitat: On large granite outcrop rising 70 feet above the river. Partial to full shade of Populus grandidentata, Tilia americana, and Quercus macrocarpa in open woodland setting. Infrequent on small, west-facing, upper slope, vertical bedrock exposures; rare on lower slope in similar situations. Loose patches along bedrock crevices, in moss mats, and in thin soil over bedrock. Associated species include Aquilegia canadensis, Parietaria pensylvanica, Corydalis sempervirens, Polypodium virginianum, Parthenociss
