Habitat: Rolling drumlin plain. Locally abundant in small (~1/4-acre) vernal wetland in mesic hardwood forest on broad drumlin. Mostly in full sun; some plants partially shade by Tilia americana, Fraxinus nigra, and F. pennsylvanica. Forming large dense patch in center of the shallow basin. In shallow water (~8 inches deep). Organic muck over sandy-loam. Associated species include Carex lacustris, Phalaris arundinacea, Sium suave, Cardamine pensylvanica, Mentha arvensis.
