Habitat: Rolling drumlin plain. Occasional in poor conifer swamp in inter-drumlin peatland. Full sun to partial shade under patchy canopy dominated by Larix laricina, with rare Picea mariana. Canopy more open here (~20 acres) than the rest of this ~60-acre patch of tamarack swamp. Deep saturated peat. Continuous carpets of Sphagnum and Polytrichum mosses. Forming dense clumps. Associated species include Betula glandulifera, B. papyrifera, Ledum groenlandicum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Andromeda glaucophylla, Vacciniu
