Strongly-rolling forested moraine. Uncommon in mature cedar swamp. Canopy dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Fraxinus nigra and Betula papyrifera. Dense understory of Thuja occidentalis, Abies balsamea, and Alnus incana. On drier hummocks in carpets of Bryales spp. mosses. Additional associates include Huperzia lucidula, Equisetum scirpoides, Coptis groenlandica, Trientalis borealis, Linnaea borealis, Moneses uniflora, Mitella nuda, Cornus canadensis, Rubus pubescens, Carex peckii, C. leptalea
