Habitat: On gently-rolling drumlin plain. Occasional to frequent in alluvial forest. Fairly closed canopy of Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Quercus macrocarpa, and Acer saccharinum. Open understory. Silty soil, often in zones dominated by Laportea canadensis on slightly higher elevations (1-2 feet) of the undulating floodplain. Additional associates include Circaea lutetiana, Geum canadense, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Rudbeckia laciniata, Galium obtusum, Carex radiata, C. cristatella, C. assiniboinensis, Glyceria striata.
