Habitat: Local, forming fairly large, moderately dense patch in narrow, steep-sided valley. In narrow strip of woodland dominated locally by Quercus macrocarpa, Pinus resinosa, and Populus tremuloides. Fairly dense shrub layer dominated by Corylus americana and C. cornuta. Dry to moist sandy soil; extending into the edge of the wetland to the north. Additional associates include Equisetum arvense, Rubus pubescens, Clintonia borealis, Cornus canadensis, Aralia nudicaulis, Carex pensylvanica, Vaccinium angustifolium.
