Habitat: Forming dense patches on the riverbank in narrow strip of degraded alluvial forest/swamp. In partial shade beneath Rhamnus cathartica, Salix discolor, Betula glandulifera, and Alnus incana. Moist silty-sand substrate. Additional associated species include Carex lacustris, C. pellita, Agrostis alba, Phalaris arundinacea, Poa palustris, Lathyrus palustris, Cicuta maculata, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Toxicodendron rydbergii, Cornus stolonifera.
