Habitat: Rolling drumlin plain. Uncommon to occasional in mesic hardwood forest on fairly gradual southeast-facing slopes of 50-foot high drumlin. Canopy dominated by Tilia americana, with occasional Quercus rubra and Q. macrocarpa. Understory of Ostrya virginiana, Populus tremuloides, Tilia americana, Corylus cornuta, and Fraxinus nigra. Sandy-loam with frequent stones. Additional associates include Athyrium angustum, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Pteridium aquilinum, Geranium maculatum, Amphicarpaea bracteata, Circae
