Habitat: Rolling forested moraine. Uncommon and local. Scattered robust clumps on exposed muck and peat mats floating in shallow water (~3 feet deep). In full sun. Associated species include Dulichium arundinaceum, Eleocharis ovata, Carex crawfordii, Schoenoplectus purshianus, Glyceria borealis, Utricularia vulgaris, U. minor, Nymphaea odorata, Brasenia schreberi, Bidens tripartita, Typha x glauca.
