Habitat: Rolling forested drumlin plain. Occasional in native pine-hardwood forest. Interrupted canopy dominated by Pinus strobus, with occasional Populus tremuloides and Pinus resinosa. Patchy to dense understory of Populus tremuloides and Zanthoxylum americanum, with scattered Corylus cornuta, Ostrya virginiana, and Carpinus caroliniana. Rich sandy loam.
