Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested moraine; in white cedar swamp; locally frequent near groundwater seepage stream near the edge of the swamp (near the upland margin). Patchy canopy dominated by mature Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Fraxinus nigra and Betula papyrifera. Mostly in partially shaded settings. Saturated peat and muck.
Associated Species: Caltha palustris, Stellaria longifolia, Impatiens capensis, Aster puniceus, Carex interior,
Description: Low, branching to somewhat sprawling shrubs, to ~3 feet tall.
Notes: Occasional; locally frequent
