Habitat: Frequent on large sand-gravel bar. Moist coarse sand and pea-sized gravel substrate ~4-6 inches above present river level. Full sun. Associates include Eleocharis intermedia, Cyperus odoratus, C. bipartitus, C. diandrus, Scirpus atrovirens, Echinochloa muricata, Eragrostis hypnoides, Panicum philadelphicum, Zizania palustris, Persicaria lapathifolia, Lindernia dubia, Stellaria media, Rumex fueginus, Stachys palustris, Mollugo verticellata, Bidens cernua, Veronica catenata, Sagittaria cuneata, and seedlings
