Habitat: Occasional to frequent in sedge fen which forms broad zone bordering the lake; mostly in somewhat richer area closer to the upland. Saturated spongy peat. Continuous carpets of Sphagnum spp. mosses. Forming fairly large and dense patches. Mostly in full sun. Associated species include Carex canescens, C. chordorrhiza, C. lacustris, C. stricta, Iris versicolor, Potentilla palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Larix laricina, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Betula glandulifera, Alnus incana, Salix pyrifolia, Spiraea alba.
