Habitat: Along broad glacial overflow channel in rolling forested terrain; on margin of conifer swamp. Shaded beneath tall Salix bebbiana, Alnus incana, and by Larix laricina from the adjacent tamarack - black spruce swamp. Saturated peat with carpets of Sphagnum spp. and Bryales spp. mosses.
Associated Species: Vaccinium myrtilloides, Betula glandulifera, Ledum groenlandicum, Fraxinus nigra, Abies balsamea, Rubus pubescens, Aster puniceus, Smilacina
Description: Low shrubs, to ~24 inches tall.
