Habitat: Locally abundant in backwater slough; on the surface of slack water along this short, shallow (~3 feet deep) overflow channel. Forming dense green floating mats with Lemna turionifera. Substrate is muck over sand. Mostly in full sun. Additional associates include Bidens cernua, Eleocharis palustris, Zizania palustris.
