Habitat: Rolling forested terrain. Infrequent to locally common in poor fen and poor conifer swamp in ~120-acre basin. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Larix laricina and Picea mariana. Deep saturated peat. Loose patches in carpets of Sphagnum and Polytrichum mosses. Associates include Eriophorum vaginatum, E. angustifolium, Rhynchospora alba, Carex oligosperma, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Andromeda glaucophylla, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Kalmia polifolia, Ledum groenlandicum, Sarracenia purpurea, Scheuchzeria palustris
